DIAMONDS

Diamonds are a girl's best friend?

We’ve all heard of this phrase before: “Diamonds are a girl’s best friend.” What makes diamonds so special? Why do girls love them so much? They definitely are sparkly and shiny, but why are they so darn expensive? In reality, it is possible to purchase a diamond with only a couple hundred dollars. However, this is where the quality of the diamond comes in. A scale called “The four C’s” is used to determine the quality of the diamond: colour, clarity, cut, and carat. Each of these characteristics can affect the quality of the diamond greatly.

Today, we will discuss the colour of a diamond, which is represented by an alphabetical scale. This scale runs from D to Z, with D being colourless, and Z being a light yellow colour. This scale is then divided into five categories: colourless, near colourless, slightly tinted, very light yellow, and light yellow. Within each category, it is hard for the naked eye to detect the difference in colour for each colour grade. However, when diamonds of different colours are placed beside each other, the difference is more evident. The colour of the diamond can also be influenced by its surrounding environment, such as the setting used for the diamond.

Many people use diamonds for special gifts such as an engagement ring, anniversary gift, birthday present, and etc. For all you April babies out there, you are on the lucky side! Diamonds are actually the birthstone for the month of April. How awesome is that ;) ?
